EXTRA! EXTRA! THIS IS A BONUS POST!
Bruce Bethke threw down a gauntlet this morning (Tokyo Standard Time) and I decided to pick it up (before he was fined for littering); besides, this Friday is “dangerous goods" trash day. If you are not familiar with the Pete Wood Challenge, it is quite simple, author Pete Wood challenges other authors in the CODEX online writing group (of which, sadly, I am not a member of) with a prompt. This week’s was simple: Write a 125-word story about “writer’s block”. This morning, I cranked out 145 words in about 10 minutes before work. This evening, I tweaked them down to 125. Exactly. Because that’s the kinda slick trick, I am. I hope you enjoy.
Main Event
K3NJ1
K3nj1 dropped through the digital layers of the network, machine code resolving itself first as 1s and 0s, then as heavier information streams until it finally crystallized into a horizonless, pulsating datascape of read-only/write-if nodes.
Activating a k01 mod, he upstreamed in search of elusive data points and threads that could be twisted into tomes of knowledge, recordings of adventure, and, he smirked, a bit of coin.
Diving through a glitch-pixel in a niche back alley, he found he could not proceed. The data was there for him to manipulate, but it would not parse. Fishing a line from an old Hooks folder, he inverted its character strings, set its worldbuilding dataset to open, and the obstruction dissolved, allowing him the write of way.
We never meet without parting

I rather like that my brother
That's awesome. Personally any writing prompt made into a cyberpunk world can only be awesome.
