Dear Readers,
I’m sorry. I have been away. Not on purpose though.
First and foremost, it’s December. I didn’t think a lot of folks would read during the holidays, so I hadn’t much planned to begin with.
Second, corona finally caught up to me mid-December and I fought a “fever war” with it even after I was allowed out of isolation. It really kills any initiative you have of writing when you literally do not know how you’re going to be feeling in the next five minutes.
Then, as I readied to put out a cool post on my visit to Zenkou Temple in Nagano at the end of the year, the west coast of Japan was hit by a massive Shindo-7 earthquake (ultimately a 5 in our area). We are perhaps a 100km from the epicenter.
We got hit hard. The car we were driving in shook like a child’s toy. That’s saying a lot because when you are driving, you usually do not experience the motion of an earthquake. My wife, daughter and I ALL FELT THIS ONE. So did everyone else. All traffic stopped exactly where it was to wait out the 3 to 4 minutes it took for the quaking to subside.
So, blah blah, what does all this mean?
I will be back a little later this month with a couple of posts — one short fiction, one covering the visit to Zenkou Temple and New Year’s Eve in Japan.
AND, a little later, hoping around Spring, I will be launching The Daimyo’s Decoy novella in serial format. (This is the promise part.)
Until then, be safe, be good, be healthy.

Hope your feeling better after covid. Glad u werent harmed in the earthquake
I remember all the small earthquakes in my area, but for the most part we were far from the epicenter. I hope you are safe and there are no further quakes anytime soon.
